Book Review: Point of Retreat (Slammed #2) by Colleen Hoover

An amazing read filled with heartwarming writing that just makes you go "Awww!!!" Colleen Hoover has done it yet again!!

From the #1 "New York Times "bestselling author of "Hopeless "and "Losing Hope.

Sometimes two people have to fall apart to realize just how much they belong together.

Colleen Hoover entranced readers everywhere with her bestselling novel "Slammed," the book that introduced Layken and Will, a young couple whose love overcame devastating hardships to emerge stronger and more resilient than before. Now, as Layken and Will's emotion-packed story continues, a stunning and unforeseen revelation about Will's past leaves them questioning everything that they thought they knew about each other. With the foundation of their relationship at risk, they must decide whether they are willing to fight for a future together, or to retreat back into solitude and heartache.
How far does Will have to go to prove to Layken his love for her will last forever? It will require something truly extraordinary to keep this couple together, and the decisions they make and the answers they find will change not only their lives, but the lives of everyone around them.

"Colleen Hoover's second novel is just as brilliant and entertaining as "Slammed." "Point of Retreat" is absolute poetry." --Jamie McGuire, author of "Beautiful Disaster"

**There will be spoiler's for book one, Slammed. So if you haven't read, Slammed, then what are you doing with your life?! ;)**

We met Will Cooper and Layken Cohen in Slammed, and now they're back in Colleen Hoover's Point of Retreat. This is a continuation and not a companion novel to CoHo's New York Times Bestseller, Slammed. However, in this installment we are granted the ability to see inside Will's head. We also get to know previous characters even better and meet some new and interesting people as well. Of course, Colleen didn't hold back on the feels; she made you laugh and cry and smile and go all gooey inside. What would a Colleen Hoover book be without a plot twist? Well, it wouldn't be a Colleen Hoover book, is what it would be. ;)

Just as in Slammed, we get to pleasure of reading about Kel and Caulder, now they're older and more mature. NOT. :) Kel and Caulder were up to their same shenanigans, but they added some female input into their schemes. We met Kiersten in the few chapters and I immediately fell for her, She was so funny, blunt and just plain butterflying awesome!! Now, of course we lost Lake's mom, Julia at the end of Slammed, but she still shows up in the forms of letters and little stars with her witty advice.

We also got to meet Vaughn, Will's ex-girlfriend, who causes a bit of trouble between Lake and Will. This ultimately leads the couple to a cross-roads and groveling. This novel has Will & Lake really taking a step back and evaluating their feelings for each other. Is it genuine? Is it what they both want? You'll have to read to find out!!

Overall, I think this may be in the top two spot for favorite Colleen Hoover book. It was so good. Like amazingly good. I never wanted to put it down and have reread it countless times. It always gets me and makes me love CoHo's writing even more!! It's one of my most highly recommended books and I think that you should all go out and read it!!
