(Quick) Book Review: Rule (Marked Men #1) by Jay Crownover

Opposites in every way . . . except the one that matters.

Shaw Landon loved Rule Archer from the moment she laid eyes on him. Rule is everything a straight-A pre-med student like Shaw shouldn’t want—and the only person she’s never tried to please. She isn’t afraid of his scary piercings and tattoos or his wild attitude. Though she knows that Rule is wrong for her, her heart just won’t listen.

To a rebel like Rule Archer, Shaw Landon is a stuck-up, perfect princess-and his dead twin brother’s girl. She lives by other people’s rules; he makes his own. He doesn’t have time for a good girl like Shaw-even if she’s the only one who can see the person he truly is.

But a short skirt, too many birthday cocktails, and spilled secrets lead to a night neither can forget. Now, Shaw and Rule have to figure out how a girl like her and a guy like him are supposed to be together without destroying their love . . . or each other.

This is one of the first new adult books that I ever read. I LOVED IT!! It made me want more and more and more!! I loved the characters and I loved the story and there was just enough steaminess to not be too much!! I absolutely die for a good bad boy romance and this book is just the ticket. Rule Archer is bad to the bone, but he's got a sweet side for Shaw Landon and did I mention he has tattoos? I didn't, well he does. And he doesn't just have an art gallery on his body he also is a tattoo artist! SWOON!! As I'm sure you read in the synopsis, Rule and Shaw have a one night stand on her birthday. But this isn't the first time they met. They've actually known each other for awhile and Shaw was best friends with Rules twin brother, Remy, before he passed away. Shaw's had a huge, ginormous, massive crush on Rule since the moment she laid eyes on him way back, but Rule never saw her that way, she was always Remy's girl even though they always denied a relationship. So, of course when Shaw throws herself at Rule on the night of her birthday he's not only shocked, but a little apprehensive. Of course, Rule goes for it and finds that he can't get Shaw out of his head. He might not want to either. He doesn't do relationships and Shaw is the relationship type of girl. This freaks him out and makes him avoid Shaw until he realizes that maybe they can do the friends with benefits thing. All he has to do is ask. He never thought she'd say yes, or that he may wind up wanting more.

I thought that Jay did a great job at making us understand the characters and their pasts and their presents. She also did a great job at setting up future books, this is easier to see as you read the series. She always leaves me wanting more and I can't wait to finally get a chance to finish the final installment Asa soon!!

This story is filled with humor, explosive chemistry and just enough warm fuzzies to make your heart melt. I not only found an amazing series when I found this book. I found an amazing new favorite author in Jay Crownover that I just can't live without!!
